Indianapolis Teaching Fellows’ goal is to provide the students of Indianapolis with high quality teachers who are driven to do whatever it takes to make a positive impact on student achievement.
If you are looking for socially meaningful work, a way to end educational inequality, or a way to give back to the community, you are clearly someone who wants to make a difference. Indianapolis Teaching Fellows can help individuals like you make a difference by enhancing the delivery of academic instruction provided to public school students in Indianapolis.

The need for talented individuals to help close the achievement gap in our city:
- 49% of Indianapolis Public Schools students graduated high school within four years in 2009; the Indiana state-wide average was nearly 82%
- 37% of Indianapolis 8th graders were proficient on the 2010 ISTEP English language arts test (while the state average was 66%)
- Nationally, nearly half (46%) of all African-American students and over a third (39%) of all Latino students attend schools in which graduation is not the normÂ
Indianapolis Teaching Fellows offers you both the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Indianapolis students and to further your own professional career. As a Fellow you will earn a teaching license, complete a Master of Arts in Teaching program and connect with driven, like-minded individuals who share a sense of urgency in addressing one of our nation's most pressing issues-ensuring that students achieve rigorous academic goals.
Multiple studies have proven that teacher quality is the single most important factor in student success. With this knowledge in mind, the Indianapolis Teaching Fellows program focuses on recruiting, selecting, and training talented and successful individuals to shape the future of education in Indianapolis.
