About Us

Make a Difference

Indianapolis Teaching Fellows’ goal is to provide the students of Indianapolis with high quality teachers who are driven to do whatever it takes to make a positive impact on student achievement.

If you are looking for socially meaningful work, a way to end educational inequality, or a way to give back to the community, you are clearly someone who wants to make a difference. Indianapolis Teaching Fellows can help individuals like you make a difference by enhancing the delivery of academic instruction provided to public school students in Indianapolis.

In the 2006-2007 school year, little more than half of IPS students received satisfactory scores on the math portion of the ISTEP exam, while the average pass rate for the rest of the state of Indiana was 74%. Equally alarming is the 50% graduation rate. These numbers clearly indicate that many students are being left behind. Without the continued recruitment of talented, culturally competent teachers dedicated to improving student achievement, we will continue to leave students underprepared for the futures they face.

Multiple studies have proven that teacher quality is the single most important factor in student success. With this knowledge in mind, the Indianapolis Teaching Fellows program focuses on recruiting, selecting, and training talented and successful individuals to shape the future of education in Indianapolis.

Make a difference in the life of a child.  Teach.
