Interview Events

Based on the strengths of the submitted application materials, Indianapolis Teaching Fellows will decide whether or not a candidate is invited to participate in an Interview Event. Please note that not all candidates will be invited to an Event. We understand that being denied participation in an Interview Event can be a disappointment, and it is natural to want to know the reasons behind the program’s decision. However, because of the large number of applications that we anticipate receiving, we cannot accommodate requests for personalized feedback on individual applications.

Interview events are designed to give Indianapolis Teaching Fellows staff a broader sense of an individual’s capacity to increase student achievement. Interviewees will be asked to:

  • Teach a five-minute sample lesson (If you come without a lesson prepared, you will not be allowed to reschedule your interview.)
  • Structure a written response to a classroom scenario
  • Participate in a group discussion centered around a topical issue in education
  • Engage in a one-on-one interview with a representative of the Fellows program

An Interview Event lasts approximately five-six hours and includes a chance to interact with experienced Indianapolis Public Schools and charter school teachers and administrators. Interview Events take place on weekends at various locations (usually a school site) in Indianapolis.

Please note: All Interview Events take place in Indianapolis on dates identified in advance by our program. Individual requests for other times cannot be accommodated.
